In our Menorquín models, both the gangway and the bathing platform move thanks to hydraulic systems that must be properly maintained. These parts of your boat are more exposed to sea water than others, so the care they need is very specific and must be carried out regularly to avoid incidents or unusual deterioration.

Gangway

For the correct maintenance of your Menorquín's gangway, we recommend that you establish a routine of cleaning and specific care.

First of all, rinse it with fresh water when you arrive at your mooring after each crossing and dry it with a soft cloth or chamois, especially the stainless steel parts. Although the steel is of the highest quality, sea water can leave unwanted marks. Under no circumstances is it recommended to use metallic scouring pads or aggressive cleaning methods.

Remember to always use a mild, biodegradable cleaner to remove acidic and greasy residues.

If the steel surfaces of the gangway show signs of rust or dullness, you can use a specific polishing product, being very careful not to crush the teak with it.

On the other hand, the wooden parts of the gangway are particularly exposed to engine fumes. Apply a specific product (water-repellent treatment) to the teak wood, carrying out a complete protection cycle twice a season and during the wintering of your Menorquín.

Do not forget to treat the rails that move the gangway. At least once a month, the hinges and rails should be cleaned and greased to ensure they work properly.

Finally, always check the tightness of the hydraulic fittings and never pour oil into the bilge, as it will be expelled into the sea. Remember that extraordinary maintenance of specific materials on your boat must be carried out by specialised technical personnel.

Hydraulic arms of the bathing platform

During maintenance of the hydraulic arms, you should be familiar with the various mechanisms that make their operation possible. Firstly, the hydraulic components should be sprayed with silicone spray and a visual inspection of the anodes should be carried out, making sure that they show no signs of passivation or wear, in which case they should be cleaned.

It is also important to check the fixing bolts, the stainless steel parts of the lifting system and the oil level, and if the oil level is below the recommended level, the reservoir should be topped up.

These suggestions are part of the care indicated in the maintenance manual for each of the equipment delivered with your Menorquín and must be put into practice for optimum conservation of the equipment. We also advise you to have all maintenance work carried out by a team of professionals from your trusted boatyard.
